Before attending the recent ‘Society For Human Resource Management Conference 2014’ in Orlando, the PayScale team, along with their trademark purple squirrel mascot, decided to use a personality assessment to create a buzz before the conference.

Using a contact list provided by SHRM, PayScale emailed all of those attending the conference and asked them to ‘Find Their Inner Purple Squirrel’ and reminded them to visit PayScale’s booth at the conference for giveaways and to enter their sweepstakes.

PayScale designed this SnapApp to accomplish two things: entice attendees to make visiting PayScale a priority at SHRM 2014 and collect lead data for future marketing campaigns. They accomplished both of these goals (their team ran out of the free PayScale-branded socks they had during the first day of the conference!) and created a fun, memorable conversation starter for current and prospective customers. In one week prior to the event, this SnapApp generated:

–          Over 1,100 impressions

–          75% click-through rate

–          584 lead submissions
