With summer approaching, what dog wouldn't like a new toy to play with in the backyard or the park? What dog owner could pass up the chance to win one of KONG’s new Jumbler toys for FREE? KONG chose to build an interactive user-generated photo contest, and asked users to submit a photo of themselves with their furry friends for a chance to win the newest product from the famous pet supply company. A photo gallery was included with this SnapApp to showcase each entry, so fellow animal lovers could enjoy seeing other dog owners with their pets. In addition to strengthening brand awareness with their target customer base, KONG effectively promoted a new product line from their legendary catalog of highly-durable, built-to-chew dog toys . This SnapApp included a lead generation form as well, so Kong can both notify the lucky contest winners and include all participants in future email campaigns.

Converting Contest Participants into New Leads – A Win-Win for Everyone 

The user response for this contest was especially impressive. KONG received more than 400 entries over the last month, a 44% lead submission rate, and close to 4,600 impressions. Time-on-site improved significantly as well; once users uploaded their photos, they continued the overall experience by browsing the photos posted by other users. Social media also played a role in driving users to this contest, as KONG encouraged Facebook shares by posting an image and a link on their company’s Facebook profile, which gained 31 'Likes' and shares across the platform. Kong created a successful contest because they identified a key call-to-action among their customer base. Pet-lovers like to show other people pictures of their animals, and animal-lovers like to see pictures of people enjoying their pets. Who would be better for a company like KONG to market to than users who have already actively engaged with their brand though interactive content?
