Starting a Conversation Around the Thanksgiving Dinner Table
November 18, 2014 | Dan Trefethen
Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year. I love being able to fly home to San Diego and enjoy a walk on the beach before it’s time join my mom in the kitchen. If I’m not in San Diego, you can usually find me in Nebraska with my grandparents and cousinspreparing a Mexican-style Thanksgiving…. trust me, it’s delicious!
My Thanksgivings may be unique, but for everyone it’s a time to gather with friends and family and celebrate life. There’s no pressure with gifts and it’s a chance to gather around a table and just talk.
Thanksgiving is about human connections–
connecting with our loved ones and hearing about their lives over our favorite holiday dishes. Thanksgiving is about jumping in the kitchen and helping out with everything from cutting up vegetables to baking a pie. It can also be about wandering into the living room and catching the football game or the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Whatever you do, you’re with your people, enjoying just being together.
At SnapApp, we believe marketing should be more like these human interactions. Marketing should start a dialogue. Maybe I’m biased because I’m a marketer, but I believe our role in starting the conversation is only going to increase as time goes on and we gather more data to speak directly with our target audience.
Not all conversations have to be heavy. Sometimes, they can just be fun – like the jokes and stories you share over the dinner table. So in honor of this holiday, we thought we’d start a lighthearted conversation with you, our readers: what’s your Thanksgiving persona? There are the ultimate hosts, the football fanatics, the black Friday shoppers, and more…. so who are you?
Take the assessment below and find out! Then share with your friends and see how they compare.
