Tips, Trends & Tools for DIY Interactive Content Design

Designing amazing interactive experiences doesn’t have to be hard. That’s the message I hope I communicated last week in our DIY Interactive Content Design webinar – thank you for joining if you were able to attend! If you missed it, here’s a link to view the recording.

As the Director of Customer Success here at SnapApp, I have the advantage of seeing the outcome of training webinars like these in real time – just since last Wednesday, I've already seen attendees implementing animations, trying out full-page experiences, and simply trying out tweaks here and there to make their content a little more compelling. Awesome job, everyone!

But the webinar was also designed with non-SnapApp customers in mind. The tips and tools we covered are applicable for a wide range of design projects, and learning more about these topics will make it easier for you to collaborate with an interactive content design partner in the future.

For those who are still working on their design, or even if you haven't had a chance to get in there and start experimenting yet – here is a summary of what we discussed:

Style trends

It can be a little intimidating to try to keep up with changes in the design world – especially if you’re not a designer. I spent some time with our own in-house designer talking through the key trends and approaches in design to give us a place to start in providing recommendations to marketers. Here’s what we came up with:

Bigger is better...

Large, animated, vibrant full-page experiences and imagery are in. They're compelling, they pop, and they allow a user's eye to follow a story.

...but less is more

Elements are photos or flat images; fonts are thin and simple, not funky.

Here are some of the key design trends we covered:

  • Minimalism
  • Flat design
  • Varied opacity & layers
  • Large photos & hero images
  • Tile layouts
  • Vibrant colors
  • Animations
  • Full-page experiences

Free resources

As we discussed, it doesn't have to be hard to put together great interactive content experiences. Here are a couple free resources we referenced that you, too, can use!

SnapApp platform features to scale your design

A SnapApp Customer Success webinar wouldn’t be complete without a peek into how our platform helps you achieve the design you’re looking for.

The Asset Library allows you to store everything from images and buttons to downloads and media files centrally within your account to allow for quick building. Don't forget about uploading your brand or favorite fonts to use in your SnapApps as well!

Use the Templates section of the platform to pre-configure various settings like responsive, leadgen, and social. Especially valuable for design, input HEX or RGB codes for the colors you use most frequently.

Copy & Convert makes life easier by allowing you to design a SnapApp and then copy those design elements into new pieces of content. Take a look at a tutorial video here.

Don't forget to watch the full webinar here!
